I've had problems with Apple's DVI to VGA holding the VGA connector in tight sometimes. A little gaffer tape seemed to fix that right up.

I have a VGA monitor. My problem is that the adapter that came with my
Mini goes from HDMI to DVI, then I have an adapter to go from VGA to
DVI to interface the monitor with Apple's adapter... but the adapter
does not fit securely into the HDMI adapter, so I get no monitor
output. Still, if it won't fix mail, safari, or some of the odd
pauses, it isn't worth investigating to me.

the official standpoint on this from a hardware point of view is this...

A monitor is part of a system by default and as the system boots, part of
it's boot sequence is to find a display as part of the user interface. if it
can't then it's going to continue but have issues with the GPU (graphical
processor unit) and OS behaviour, after all the mac / pc interface relies on
a display to support it. hence the use of 15 pin D Sub / DVI / display port
/ mini displayport / HDMI interface as a display interface.

Even for a blind person, it's useful to have a suitable VGA monitor for a
sighted user to assist where possible. bearing in mind that screen readers
cannot always do everything we need them to do.

Can<t really say. Have only used it with the fake monitor. I just remember
that as I got started those issues mentioned were the ones bugging me the
most.
I find in general it runs faster.

How about Mail or Safari? I know Safari might just be a lost cause,

don't have a monitor.

Hi,

I found that, if my monitor replacement contraption is not recognized a
few
clear things happen:
1. Vo is on in login but not after you put in my password so I have to
press
command f5 again.
2. In itunes if I perform a sync or anything that puts info in the lcd
section of itunes I cannot access it. If I try to interact with it it
goes
busy on me.
These things are solved when a monitor or a monitor adaptor box is
attached
to the mini.

Without a VGA monitor or the NTSC contraption attached your Mac will
endlesly scan for a non-existant monitor which will bog it down. Not
sure
how to tell if the Mac thinks there is a display hooked up at the
moment
but if you're getting a lot of voiceover busy messages that's usually a
symptom.

Hi all,

I managed to connect my vga addapter. My question is this. How can I
tell if it is working. I don't have a monitor as of yet as I am still
trying to find one, but I was under the empression that it is supposed
to
make the machine act as if a display is connected. Is there a way to
find
out if it is working? Thanks.
