Hello William, In Pages, tables show up as a highlighted space. In the Document inspector, under the Info tab, they are counted as Graphics. If you find a highlighted space, you can look in the Format menu under Tables to see whether the Convert Table to Text is active. I have a shortcut for this, so I can just try it and read the table if such it is. I then use Cmd-z to undo the command.
However, as I said to Massimo, I use TextEdit to read through a document and the tables are visible in TextEdit.
