Hi Donna, OK, just so we cover all possibilities. You don't have an encrypted hard drive right? Because VoiceOver does not speak at the login screen with an encrypted hard drive. OK, let's assume you don't have that since this just happened to you after installing Mount Lion. I posted an email a few moments ago about the merits of a clean install versus upgrade. I am out of ideas at the moment, but I am still brainstorming for you. I think your next step is probably taking the machine in and show it to the Genius Bar. I assume it is a laptop. Also, since you mentioned Dictation, I found out that by pressing the function key twice, you enable Dictation. So hopefully you are not doing that.
