Hi guys
I am speaking here strictly from a lay woman's point of view, especially after
what happened to a blind friend of mine who was beside herself with fury when
her Windows desktop caught a vicious virus and she had to spend all day on the
issue, including disconnecting and wagging the desktop (using cab fare), to get
rid of the virus. She has virus protection on her computer, but this nasty
virus killed off WindowEyes so that it didn't tell her she had a problem. She
misinterpreted everything and thought that her computer had just locked up for
some stupid reason. The WindowEyes people, even though they probably weren't
supposed to help her with issues other than WindowEye tried, but she had to get
a reader to look at the screen, whereupon she found out that the nasty virus
had put up a notice that she should pay the crooks $200 to get rid of this
thing.

Now, the reason I mention this is that this noncomputer professional has better
things to do with her time than dealing with the consequences of crooks, and I
think it was probably something that MicroSoft never dreamed would get this
bad. But in my opinion, Steve Jobs was right. All of this has to be
co-ordinated and put together so it works as a unit. I hope that, if Apple
hasn't done it already, that keeping up with these viruses will need to be done
by them so that everybody, his brother and sister, too, won't have to get
involved in this and it won't become a big business like apparently it is for
Windows users. I mean, my friend had to shop around to get the best price she
could to get rid of this nasty thing created by people who should be in jail.

Just my two cents worth, such that it is.

Regards,
Gigi
