Hi there
Let me see if I can clear up some things. First, the top row is the role that
voiceOver uses to announce your labels. I got told by somebody that the column
on the left column A, is what voiceOver uses to say the columns. So, you would
not have your formula in the same cell that you have your label.
So now let's do an example, and see if this helps. What if you put Monday
Tuesday Wednesday Thursday and Friday across the rows so you could have your
mileage amounts for these days. You would then go inffthe Inspector and make
the days into Text. You go below each day and put in some numbers. Just so you
know you've got everything right, put in some easy numbers !start with; then
you can take them out later.
Now you can draw a line or put in equal signs like I mentioned earlier so that
you have a separator between the numbers you put in andthe formula. Using our
example, go below Monday and get into the Insert menu and go down to Function.
Choose Sum and press enter. You should find the total forthe numbers you just
put in for Monday. Use -mand c !copy your formula. Get on top of Tuesday
!pressing the right arrow. Press the shift key and select the next four
columns. Now press -mand v !paste your formula in. You have now copied Monday's
formula inffthe other days.
Now let's add in a number into your row because you forgot some. Go one cell
above the line that you draw so you are on top of a number you put in earlier.
If you want a row below that number, press option down arrow. If you want it
the other way, press option up arrow. VoiceOver will tell you that you have
a.ed a row. Go back to Monday and put in some numbers. If you have done things
right, your formula will reflect the numbers you a.ed.
The reason I tell you !get on top the numbers you put in before adding your
rows is so that your new rows don't become text which will prevent them from
being a.ed inffyr formula.
I don't do the automatic fill-ins that you are talking about, but I will tell
you that Numbers will accept Excel formulas. Therefore, if you know how !write
such formulas in Excel, it should work in Numbers as well. Numbers formulas, if
you type them in by hand, are started in the same way they are in ,excel 0us+ !
