You might try going in to display in system preferences, and make sure the resolution has not been changed to an odd setting.

My focus is already set to that. I've seen this once before, but have no idea how I got rid of it. I could disable the toolbar, of course, but I'd rather not. Usually, if nothing else, it holds a search field. Besides, would that really help, or would vo just pick another random spot on which to set focus? I've restarted a couple times, and also just restarted vo itself, but nothing.

Hello Alex,

This is a setting in VoiceOver Utility, Navigation category. Initial position of VoiceOver cursor: should be set to Keyboard focused item to avoid your problem.

Cheers,

Anne

Hi all,
Yesterday, when I booted the Mac, VO started doing something odd: auto-focusing on the toolbar. If an app has a toolbar, it seems, VO jumps to it when the app is opened or switched to. I have never seen this before, and I have a feeling there is some screen or display setting that got changed somehow. Can anyone suggest anything I might try to fix this? Thanks.

Have a great day,
