No. It is not there.

When I do a shift-command K to call up the network, I click on it and all
the computers-Mac and PC--that are attached show up. I can cursor down the
list, but if I try opening any of them all I get is an empty scroll area.
There is no logon screen that I can find.

The browser window only contains folders on the current machine.

Hi,

When in the Sidebar, do you see your other Mac in the Shared section?

Hi.

It seems to be step three where I get hung up. I do open the network
drives, including the second Mac, my Win 7 virtual machine and another
notebook on the network. But when I press command-O on the Mac computer
name, nothing happens. There is a sidebar table below, but on this are the
favorites for my current Mac, the USB drives connected to that machine and
the various tags. The Documents folder on the Mac I am trying to access has
a single file, the one that shows up the the sidebar table has my usual
5,000 files.

Hi,

Similar to what Chris mentioned earlier, try the following when using the
cmd-shift-k method:

1. Navigate to the desired computer.

2. Press cmd-o to access it as a Guest. Focus should change to the
accessible shares available to the Guest user.

3. Stop interacting with the file area, VO-left once and it should say
"Connect As".

4. VO-space on that button.

5. Enter credentials for a user on the shared computer.

6. A new list of shared items should appear that pertains to the level of
access for the given user.

7. Navigate to the shared item you wish to view and press cmd-o to open it.

Let me know if you still have no success. You may also like to confirm the
share permissions for the given share by pressing cmd-i (Get Info) on the
shared item. This should be done from the computer providing the share.

Later.

Hi.

I have turned on file sharing on both computers, one is called Fancy Fancy,
the other is Choo Choo. The folders in each show as shared folders, but I
still cannot access the other Macs. For some reason, when I try to access
Choo Choo and do a get info is shows up listed as a PC. It does show the
locked button is dim and unchecked, but I cannot get to any file lists in
the shared folders. Any further suggestions much appreciated.

Hi,

On your second Mini, make sure that File Sharing service is turned on. In
the Sharing pane of System Prefs, check the box for File Sharing in the
Services Table. Likely, your Mini is broadcasting that it exists but if you
haven't enabled the File Sharing service, then connecting to it is
difficult.

Hi.

I can see my second Mini on the shift-command-k network menu, but I cannot
access it. I tried highlighting the computer name and pressing command-o,
left clicking, right clicking, pressing enter and doubletapping my
trackpad. Anyone with suggestions, thanks much.
