Comment (by [EMAIL PROTECTED]):
I like to try and fix this, but need some help.
I read through the relevant sections of the 802.11/a/b/g standards.
I also tried capturing frames from different types of cards in the probe
req/resp, assoc req/resp phase (printing out the info as they come in).
Using a madiwifi-ng ap (11g mode) and a madiwifi-ng client (11b):
probe req: has 4 rates
probe resp: has 4 rates
assoc req: has 8 rates
assoc resp: has 12 rates
Using a madiwifi-ng ap (11g mode) and a madiwifi-ng client (11g):
probe req: has 8 rates
probe resp: has 12 rates
assoc req: has 8 rates
assoc resp: has 12 rates
Using a madiwifi-ng ap (11g mode) and an orinoco-usb client (11b):
probe req: has 4 rates
probe resp: has 4 rates
assoc req: has 4 rates
assoc resp: has 4 rates
I also noticed that the 11g mode makes two beacon rounds (one for 4 rates,
one for 12 rates through all the channels)
