The way I use kismet (recent devel version), I let it create the kis
interface. I destroy _all_ interfaces first, then launch kismet as root.
I am using a CM9 in a Thinkpad 41, with a 2.6.12 kernel. I've set the
kismet config to use the madwifi_ag driver, and set the channels I want to
scan. It scans the A band fine for me.
