Do a simple test ok? Run your kismet with source like that:
source=madwifi_b,wifi0,b
I don't think that you managed to scan "b". "g" and "a" is possible but
not "b".
You can check it executing iwconfig on diffrent console, while kismet is
running - you will notice that it's impossible to scan "b".
This is an obvious bug, I've never observed something like this with cards
on diffrenet vendor chipset.
Beside that chaning mode in monitor mode doesn't work at all.
