 Just found out (too late) about iwpriv to set the authmode (shame on me).
 Sadly I couldn't find it when I was using google to research my "can't
 connect with WEP enabled" problem. After all, it was PEBKAC for me, though
 other cards don't need it and apparently switch automatically. Anyway,
 with the bad documentation of your regular AP, how would you be supposed
 to know that you have to enable shared key auth? A kernel message pointing
 to this might be helpful for people like me.
