 Could it be that there is a high noise level on the channel your AP is
 running on? This is more probable if you're working with 2.4 GHz. Try
 switching to another channel (which should be at least 3 channels from the
 currently used, or one of the 5 GHz channels) and see if that changes
 something.

 Can you please repeat the test, this time putting the laptop with 4m
 distance to the position the other laptop with 1m distance had, and vice
