ok, a different channel made no change at all.
BUT. right now i'm copying a 3gig file to a nfs share which also is on a
madwifi-networked suse box... the only differences:
the target box is a suse linux enterprise desktop 10 box, and it's nfs
over TCP as opposed to udp on my fileserver, which sadly is too old to do
nfs over tcp...
