Gives me the error messages:

What is this xc: option? It's not listed among the command line options
for version 6.3.4 or at the URL above? Where is it described?

Scouring the help pages, I do not see any way to get convert to create
an image without starting from one already existing.
I started with nothing (pixel.png did not exist):

[1] 16:14:06 <[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~> convert -size 1x1 xc:'rgba(200,100,75,.5)' pixel.png
   [2] 16:14:13 <[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~> ls -l pixel.png
   -rw-rw-r-- 1 kirash kirash 134 May 29 16:14 pixel.png
   [3] 16:14:16 <[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~>

   I'm running IM 6.3.3...
