I *hate* Pine approach. I always know in advance what do I want to do and I find it incredibly annoying that it asks me the extra questions instead of allowing me to directly reply to whom I intend. A better way is IMHO Mahogany approach, in all modesty: bind 'R' to the action you want to be the default (by setting the "Default reply kind" option) and then you can always change the recipients in the composer by using the choice controls there. It's still not the *best* way though - but I simply don't know which one would this be.
