 I don't know. Could you please run the program under gdb ("gdb M") and
when it crashes do "bt" and send us the output?

 Try "M --safe" if you have a sufficiently recent version, this will
prevent it from doing anything on startup.

 I'm afraid you'd need to write an external program to do this.

to edit them. You can edit them with any other application (e.g. netscape).
