I think you are confusing terms here, BSD is as much Free Software as GPL, but it is not copyleft. Don't confuse copyleft with Free Software, it is just one way of making a software Free, and many people strongly prefer that to any other way, but that does not make other ways non-free. Whether it is copyleft or not if it has the four freedoms - use, study, modify and redistribute - it is Free Software. Copyleft is a method to make sure all copies remain Free Software, if you don't want that, by all means use a different license you like, be in MIT/BSD or Apache or even make it public domain. I would respect your choice, and I would like you to respect my choice if I pick copyleft. We are not blind followers of Stallman or we don't have to defend everything he says or does, if it makes sense to us we defend it, if not we don't. -- പ്രവീണ് അരിമ്പ്രത്തൊടിയില് You have to keep reminding your government that you don't get your rights from them; you give them permission to rule, only so long as they follow the rules: laws and constitution. _______________________________________________ Indian Libre User Group Cochin Mailing List http://www.ilug-cochin.org/mailing-list/ http://mail.ilug-cochin.org/mailman/listinfo/mailinglist_ilug-cochin.org #[email protected]
