You should have not agreed to such terms and have not signed the contract with them, as what they require is self-contradictory and thus impossible. You CANNOT verify the correctness of the data without contacting the end user. It's technically impossible. Period. > Contacting a mail provider in order to verify the correctness of the > data is in the purpose of the agreement and of the data treatment so > it's not a violation. > Contacting the end-user is a violation of both the agreement and privacy. I'm not a lawyer, but I have done some work with regard to GDPR and data protection. It should not. If the email address is necessary to fulfill the agreement, contacting the end user is in the purpose of the agreement as well. But it's the data administrator (the energy company) who should do it, or, if they want to outsource it to the data processor(s), they should clearly *require* (and not *forbid*, which they have done) the data processor(s) to contact the end users in order to verify the address. -- Regards, Jaroslaw Rafa r...@rafa.eu.org -- "In a million years, when kids go to school, they're gonna know: once there was a Hushpuppy, and she lived with her daddy in the Bathtub." _______________________________________________ mailop mailing list mailop@mailop.org https://list.mailop.org/listinfo/mailop
