Hi Jan,
When I visit http://gears.google.com in Safari 4.0.2 I get
"*0.5.22.0*;official;opt;osx;safari"
- this is quite a different version from 0.5.29.0. I'll try to install gears
on a "clean" machine and see if I get the same version as you do.

I'll get back to you as soon as i results.
