If you do have a problem with spam then do not reply
to the e-mails woth a request to be removed, even if
the message says thats what you should do to get
removed.
By doing this you are just confirming that your e-mail
address is "live".
A better solution is to send a fake "undeliverable"
e-mail back to the sender if you can. There is
software that will create fairly believable fakes. I
can dig out a link for it if anyone cant find it.
All this only applies to unscrupulous senders as
larger companies tend to be OK when you ask to be
removed.
