We went through all of this last time web-based notice boards were
mentioned, and I for one would hate it. Downloading messages in one go and
then reading through and deleting them at my leisure is the way I spend many
a morning, and having to stay online to do that (without a permanent
connection) would be very impractical, not to mention expensive.

I'm sure there is a good reason, but why doesn't
everyone change from a mailing list to a web based
forum. There are many free and very reliable services
including www.ezboard.com.
People wouldn't be recieving ANY e-mail. No
posssiblitiy of viri etc. etc.
If every forum changed to a mailing list like this one
the internet would come to a griding halt.
Or is it the case that many of the users cannot access
normal web pages?
Just a thought,
Justin
