Thanks to Steve Smith and José Luis Armero (and all the GIS gods) my MI
works again. It seems that this failure deals with Win2K and TEMP folder
bug. I cleaned the disk with system cleaner and everything is OK.

Best regards

Hello Petr,

Take a look at your Documents and Settings/<User name>/Local
Configuration/Temp folder. If you encounter a lot of MAP???? files,
delete
all of them and you're done.

I've had a similar problem when I run a mapbasic program that makes a
lot of
selections. Each selection create a temporary MAP file. When you reach
9999
temporal MAP files, MapInfo fails to start up.

Hope this helps,

Check the startup.wor file in your windows directory. This list of
commands
runs automatically if the file exists. Delete or rename startup.wor if
it
causes a problem. Check the icon used to launch MI and check if there
is a .wor
or .mbx file in the command line. If so this is being run as MI starts
and may
be causing the problems.

Maybe toolmanager.mbX is also starting something. I'm not sure how it
starts
but it can auto load programs.

Best of luck.

Hi listers,
I have an urgent problem to solve.
MI (version 6.0, WIN 2K) fails to start up. The MI gives a splash on
screen and it goes ballistic behind all applications. Its icon begins to
blink on the task bar and then a hourglass symbol occurs and lasts
forever. MI session must be finished manually without opening any files.
I have tried to reinstall the whole suite (VM,MI) but without success.
Any ideas??

Thanks
