Jeroen,

We had a 2500 for about 4 years (for the last three years, I was with the
company) and we were calling tech support about once a month at least. We
had an annual maintenance contract which we used often....

Now we have the 5000PS and have had the tech support guy out a couple times
in 18 months. I believe we have an annual contract on that as well.

Subject: MI-L Plotter durability and maintenance agreements

Hi,

Our HP 2500 cp plotter appears to suffer from a slow but increasingly
"congestive" CPU and/or other electronic failure.

My question to the fellow MI users is how many of you have purchased annual
maintenance agreements for this machine vs. those that have not? HP wants
about $1600.00 - $1900.00 to just take a look at what might be the problem,
which coincides with the cost of annual maintenance (ofcourse). I am up and
running now for about 4.5 years which equals in maintenance about the cost
of a new plotter.

My impression has always been that HP plotters are virtually indestructible
and go forever?

How long have some of you been able to run trouble free with the HP
plotters?. I still have a 650 that runs like a champ after almost ten years
and many miles of paper!

I appreciate your input.
