We also use an HP2500CP but have not had these problems. It has been reliable, but have had to try different versions of plotter drivers to get a good result.

For instance, the first time you create a layout and send it to print, it comes out monochrome. We've found you have to save the Workspace, close out mapinfo, reopen the wkspce and then print. Sometimes we have to do this a couple of times for it to work. There have been inumerable other problems over the last few years. My question to the fellow MI users is how many of you have purchased annual maintenance agreements for this machine vs. those that have not? HP wants about $1600.00 - $1900.00 to just take a look at what might be the problem, which coincides with the cost of annual maintenance (ofcourse). I am up and running now for about 4.5 years which equals in maintenance about the cost of a new plotter. My impression has always been that HP plotters are virtually indestructible and go forever? How long have some of you been able to run trouble free with the HP plotters?. I still have a 650 that runs like a champ after almost ten years and many miles of paper! I appreciate your input.
