Moshe Binyamin (of MapInfo) told me that ver 8 will still work with MapBasic programs. They are planning on improving the code interpreter to translate old mbx into .NET calls. I'm still a bit vague on how this will work (or even if I understand it correctly), but I don't think MapBasic developers need to worry about ver. 8. Of course, the writing's on the wall, so I guess we better study up on MS Visual Studio .NET and XML. What little I know now of .NET does seem interesting, but like it or not, it's a Microsoft world. Resistance is futile. -- - Bill Thoen ------------------------------------------------------------ GISnet, 1401 Walnut St., Suite C, Boulder, CO 80302 tel: 303-786-9961, fax: 303-443-4856 mailto:bthoen@;gisnet.com, http://www.gisnet.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------ --------------------------------------------------------------------- List hosting provided by Directions Magazine | www.directionsmag.com | To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Message number: 3635
