Hi,
You'd written:
dear sirs,i have an esri format data which are SHP, SHX, SBN and DBF
files. When I try to use the UNIVERSAL TRANSLATOR in MAPINFO, it creates
a log file saying
Specified file 'C:\data.shp' is not a shape file
Program TerminatingTranslation FAILED.
Unable to generate mapping file.
This means that the shape file you've got is corrupt. You could verify
this by trying to just read it in any of the Arc products, but from the
message you got it seems like there is some problem.
If the Arc products can read it but the UT cannot, then I'd suggest you
try an eval of the latest FME (which is the big brother of the UT),
which will reflect any changes we've made to our shape reading recently.
You can get that from www.safe.com -- just follow the free evaluation
link there.
Good luck!
Dale
