That might be a good alternative for some, but not so useful for our company. We digitize hundreds of maps each week. Each one takes make 15 minutes to do on the digitizing tablet. So, the extra time that it takes to have someone else scan them is valuable time lost, plus we run on a very tight budget, and we are constantly getting revisions in for the maps. We click on the points and write down the coordinates, then type those points back in when registering them on the digitizing tablet. Would be nice to be able to click and select the points just like when registering a raster. If that can already be done, then there's no reason it can't be done for use with registering points on a digitizing tablet.
Of course, the question still stands.
