Mitchell MapX mobile won't run on the CE machines, but we do have a solution for the equivalent of the Trimble Recon (but not yet for the Geo series).
The Recon is built by a Trimble subsidiary, Tripod Data Systems (www.tdsway.com) with an identical unit sold under TDS and Trimble badging. It does not have the integrated GPS, but connects with the rest of the Trimble offering and is a really nice rugged bit of gear. See the TDS press release of October 7th re the new Pocket PC 2003 version of the Recon. We have GBM Mobile (a MapX Mobile based end user solution) running on the Pocket PC 2003 iPAQs, so we expect it to run on the new Recon which has very similar specifications. But I am only talking about our GBM Mobile MapX implementation. I understand the standard MapX Mobile and most of the other commercial MapX Mobile based applications are targeted for Pocket PC 2002 and won't run on 2003, so they won't work on the new Recon. GBM Mobile reads the NMEA output supported as an alternative to the proporitary format on the Trimble GPS receivers. See www.geobasemap.com for details on GBM Mobile. ...
