I have had good luck opening the workspace in WordPad, and using search and
replace to change paths. You have to open WordPad first, then set to Of
File Type to *.wor It is quicker then reopening every thing and saving the
workspace. This also eliminates the sometimes lost thematic maps and
queries that the workspace saves.

Subject: MI-L Workspace file path problems

Greetings!

I just transferred all my data etc to a newer computer and have run into
a pathing problem with my files when I open up a workspace. When I
attempt to open a workspace, MapInfo (V7.5) wants me to indicate where
certain files are. Now not all of my files are in the same directory,
but rather are filled by project designations.

Is there an easy or less time consuming method to re-establish the
workspaces rather than going through each one and pointing to each file
and re-saving the workspace? If all the required files are present, why
can't MapInfo seek and acquire the files itself?

Any comments would be appreciated.
