Hey john,

Open your .wor file in a text editor and see where your path for each table
are going. If you create the same directory structure on your new machine as
the old PC you had it will re-open with out any problems. Also, if your
working a specific project and you are not using a lot of shared tables on
your system just save the workspace in the directory where your files are
located, then if you transfer them to another machine path names won't be as
much of a problem, also the best way to have data runing off a CD.

Subject: MI-L Workspace file path problems

Greetings!

I just transferred all my data etc to a newer computer and have run into
a pathing problem with my files when I open up a workspace. When I
attempt to open a workspace, MapInfo (V7.5) wants me to indicate where
certain files are. Now not all of my files are in the same directory,
but rather are filled by project designations.

Is there an easy or less time consuming method to re-establish the
workspaces rather than going through each one and pointing to each file
and re-saving the workspace? If all the required files are present, why
can't MapInfo seek and acquire the files itself?

Any comments would be appreciated.
