Mike,

I just ran a fairly simple query on a large table and got 80% CPU, so it doesn't seem to be a MapInfo restriction.

I think I've seen the CPU going at 100% just opening a word document. Maybe M$ has inbuilt protection that stops other programs from using all the CPU for long periods to ensure that it has enough for its core functions like making its paper clip tell you its busy, animating its copying files dialog etc.

Can anyone in the list tell me if MapInfo/Window Xp pro has a restrictions on CPU usage. I'm currently working a large file with is taking over an hour to complete a selection process. When I check the Task manager the CPU is only working at 50%. Has anyone have any reg tweaks that improve MapInfo's access the processor and ram.
