Bill, I have had the same problem several times. It could be a change of printer, or printer settings, as that information is embeded in workspaces. If it has to look for another or a new printer, it can take ages to open.
The only thing you can do is either wait, change the printer in MI and re-save the workspace or open the workspace in Word and change the printer path and name at the end of the document...
