This is a Mr. Sid file format. Mr. Sid is the trade name for the image compression algorythm used by the Lizardtech company (or was Lizardtech, they may have been sold?)
Mapinfo recognizes these files, just select the image types from the drop down menu one the file open dialog. I didn't know Mr. Sid files carried their own spatial reference such as a geotiff? Usually, a *.sdw file will accompany at *.sid The sdw file contains the spatial registration information, and is supported by the free for limited use, "Worldreg" raster registration MBX. I have been sent a bunch of .SID format aerial photos. Anyone know how I can translate these into a more common format without losing there spatial reference? I am not familiar with this file type. Thanks in advance. **************************************************************************** ****** This email and any files transmitted with it are confidential, and may be subject to legal privilege, and are intended solely for the use of the individual or entity to whom they are addressed.
