Greetings from Seattle and Pacific Northwest (USA):

We also have a workhorse HP650C and have never experienced that problem in
the 3+ years we've had our plotter. Ours is also not in continuous use,
which one might presume would assist with ink-clogging.

When I lived in Denver (very low humidity, perhaps like Anchorage in the
winter?) we did have more ink cartridge problems, and when it was mission
critical we would store cartridges not in the printer, but in a little
sealed box with a wet paper towel which provided humidity. When you wanted
to plot, you'd load the cartridges, and that solved a lot of the problems.
We also had a lot more problems with refilled cartridges, than we did with
new HP cartridges. If this is a new development, perhaps the HVAC in your
building was 'improved' and humidity reduced, or it's just normal winter
dryness. We had occasional bad cartidges, but mostly it was environmental.

Have you checked the HP plotters FAQ on their website?

Let us know how you solve the problem.
