Something from a newbie.
When you have higher management spend X dollars for something. They expect
results yesterday as most of you know.
Try getting and answer from Tech Support your 90 day period is up, or you
vendor screws up on filing the program correctly.
There is very little reference referring items in another book, as for
examples well most are a foreign language to most folks, most are not in
laymen terms.
Try to explain why your company needs to spend the 800 extra for training.
That one goes over real well.

Just a few thoughts from a newbie

Subject: MI question on mapinfo

I recently joined this user's list for MapInfo, thinking it would be
useful to my uses of MapInfo --creating historical maps to display social,
demographic and political characteristics of cities and regions.

I have noticed the tremendous amount of traffic on the list, with 99.9% of
it devoted to MapBasic questions and techniques. I can't figure out what
the need is for such controls. Are they for people with dynamic maps,
such as weather maps, that change with incoming real-time data? Is there
any advantage of MapBasic controls for socio-demographic-political maps?
And why the tremendous traffic -- is MapBasic *that* difficult, or is
it so new that people are in a steep learning curve?
