Thanks for the info. I contacted Marcelo and he was very helpful. He says that problem that I was having was due to the character "&" in some of the character fields. GE was interpreting these as commands. Replacing "&" with "and" solved this specific problem. Thanks too for the info on Maptitude 5.0. I'm using 4.7 and it looks like it's time to upgrade. In the meantime, I'll give your workaround a try.
