Mike,

I've used Point2GE and Area2GE with Maptitude 4.5 since the add-ins
were released in 2006. I cannot thank Marcelo Luna enough for
producing these add-ins. They have been extremely useful for my
purposes.

One thing I have noticed with the add-ins is that they don't seem to
work if you have more than one layer in a map. But that doesn't
really matter since you can only export one layer at a time anyway.
(Maptitude 5.0 allows for multiple layer exports all at once).

I have gotten "function undefined" errors with Marcelo's add-ins, but
that is usually because I failed to check the necessary menu items.

If you want to see something other than the ID number, you need to
change ID to another field under the "Label" item. There is room for
one more field under "Description". You can show more than one field
by simply creating a formula field and using that field name
in "Description".

Here is the syntax I use to create multiple field labels in the
Area2GE description -- this is just for two fields but I've defined a
half dozen or more with no problem.:

"Total Pop.="+string(Population)+"<br>"+left(string([%
18+_AnyPart]*100),4)+"% Any Part Indian 18+"

Here is an example created using Area2GE and converted to a Google
Map.

07.kmz&om=1&ll=37.982092,-103.730164&spn=0.820481,1.557312&z=9

Marcelo's add-ins automatically sort labels -- something even
Maptitude 5.0 does not do.

I think it's worth upgrading to 5.0 just for the Google Earth export
features. You can easily export multiple layers and multiple labels
with Maptitude 5.0. Also, if you are creating thematic maps for
polygon geography, Maptitude 5.0 handles islands and holes better
than Marcelo's add-in.

This post describes a Google Earth file I produced using Maptitude
5.0 (some editing of the KML file was necessary).
