Hi:

To use a GPS receiver with Maptitude, you must have Maptitude installed
on your computer, and you must have a GPS device with a serial port
output in the NMEA 0183 format correctly installed and configured.

USB GPS devices would need to be mapped to a COM port. We have, for
example, successfully used a "mouse" GPS that had a PS2 to USB
connector. The GPS showed up as a COM port in the computer PORTS. Our
product simply read it from that COM port.

High accuracy GPS receivers (e.g. down to say, 1-2 feet), are not
standard. For such accuracy you would need a differential GPS receiver.

You can also use GPS playback data directly, without connecting
Maptitude to the GPS receiver. A playback file is a text file containing
information produced by the GPS receiver in raw, unprocessed form.
Playback files contain the data in a standard format, called NMEA 0183,
or the GPS eXchange Format, a device-independent data format.
