Hi Graham,

Sorry to email directly. I just wanted to thank you for your reply. I
just have difficulty with the fact that there are no rules or guidelines
for the list.

The non-stop chatter/members feeling an obligation to say something to
every message if too much. I'll stop short of naming names. I just
haven't found any way to contribute and see no light at the end of the
tunnel. I'd be fine with observing for a while but thus far literally
nothing has been done that I would term progress.

I'm sorry there's no way to participate outside of the mailing list. I've
already gotten to clicking "mark all read" on the AOO Marketing Folder.

I wish you all well, I will continue to use OO and open source software and
hope that I can find another way, as a non-programmer, to help.

Kind regards,
Scott

Hi, Scott and Stephen,

Please bear with it for a little while. The nature of Open Source
projects
mean that everything happens on the mailing list, so it can get a little
busy
at times, especially with a project the size of OO. Offlist emails are
unlikely to happen because of this. Everything that is done and discussed
has
to be done out in the open hence the maillist.

Don't worry however, it gets easier and you start to filter subject lines
pretty quickly.. I get about 120 mails a day over the various projects I
work
on and I think you'll find someone like Rob is a lot higher than that. Use
your email clients filters and you'll find you'll be cruising and you're
not
missing critical decisions and discussions that only happen on the list.

Join in, I'm pretty sure you'll enjoy it.

Cheers
Graham .
