Here's Spectre Journal's take on the uprisings, including on 'looting':

Not surprising. I had a bit of a tiff from the unnamed chap who posted a link to this article on Spectre's Twitter account. My guess is that people in their 20s new to Marxism are easily seduced by riots. I have run into static from both Left Voice and Cosmonaut along the same lines.

I remember feeling the same way just before I joined the SWP in 1967 when I was 22 years old. I was working for the Welfare Department in Harlem and facing the draft at the time. Anyhow, about six months into my membership, I was sitting around in party HQ hailing the riots when George Breitman overheard me. He said that a mass demonstration of all the people out on the streets looting and burning stores would have far more impact.

When I offered my opinions to the Spectre, Cosmonaut and Left Voice comrades, I heard a version of "Okay, boomer" even after I posted something from Engels characterizing riots as counter-productive. What are you going to do? I guess people have to go through an experience to learn the lessons.
