This is absurdly and entirely disingenuous if not outright fraudulent. The 
error lies in presuming that celebrities like John Lennon and  Bob Dylan have a 
special oracular quality that renders whatever activism they may engage in 
somehow especially important. Whatever they do merely enhances their brand and 
provides an incentive to consume their products.

What underlies all of this is self-indulgent consumerism and its manifold 
addictions.
