I think the response to songs such as Eleanor Rigby, Blowin’ in the Wind, and 
Imagine cannot be reduced to “ ..self-indulgent consumerism...”
And I think that taking a stand does not always “...enhance their brand…”. John 
Lennon had a powerful brand before he took outspoken political stands. And I 
don’t think the Dixie Chicks enhanced their brand, at least in the short term.
