There are a number of errors in Obrien's post Hitler's Germany was not even
close to a nuclear bomb and had not even started on it. They DID have the raw
material and expertise to make one, but Heisenberg told Hitler that it would
take at least ten years to develop one and there were other priorities. So they
did not bother seriously developing one. Then they had some of their physicists
working to disprove Jewish physics of Einstein, which makes it impossible to
make a nuke. Read the book The Alsos Project which was the Army's effort to
find out how close the Nazis were to their own A-bomb as the US Army took back
the Western nations..The Alsos team was just behind and in some cases slightly
ahead of the front line. Their findings were that there was no threat of the
Nazis getting any nuclear device.
The aid FDR gave to the Brits before Dec7,1941 was mostly to provide naval aid
and a plan if the US entered the war they would fight Germany as the top
priority. Lend-Lease was much later and did provide some significant support
which was FAR later than the Battle of Britain which had been won by that time.
The Battle of the Atlantic was FAR more important and vital than any other
thing. FDR did provide help which was significant in that battle, but he was
hampered in that by CNO Adm. King who hated the Brits and was an incompetent
which made my fathers life a lot harder since he was a Minesweeper skipper out
of Norfolk.
