love the Sisyphus reference -- it was why existentialism was so attractive in high school (and still is!!!)
It was so much "easier" when we could celebrate victories like the 1964 and 65 acts that constituted the "Second Reconstruction" or the victory of the Vietnamese people in 1975 --- The world is so much more horrible, dangerous, and (hopeless?) today --- but we couldn't live with ourselves without trying ...
