I dunno Louis --- Genovese may have become a reactionary shit by the end of his life but his work in ROLL JORDAN ROLL indicates a very different "relationship between people at the point of production" (=mode of production) than capitalism. (and if you don't like Genovese, Blassingame THE SLAVE COMMUNITY has some strong insights --- ) --- How about the American Slave Mode of Production being "NON-CAPITALIST" rather than PRE-CAPITALIST?
