I don't think many people are aware of the Uhygur position regarding Israel and 
the Palestinians described here. Perhaps if it were more well known, there 
might be a lot less support for the Uhygurs from the international left. You 
might think the Zionist right, both in Israel and the USA, would play up this 
angle more. The good and bad Islam argument here explains why US support for 
Uhygurs is so strong, and it sounds very right wing to me, like much of 
liberalism. Is it not the whole "model minority" thing, but on an international 
level?

The anti-Muslim attitudes,or 穆黑, proves that even in a communist country, 
rightist attitudes can exist, and the Chinese are not the homogenous people 
their communist supporters in the west want to think they are.

Quite the departure from what Mao wrote about liberalism. The critiques from 
ultra-leftists about China being "communist" in name only begins to make more 
sense, when you view China not only in economic terms, but in terms of its 
policy towards Islam. The similarity to the Hoover Institute is noteworthy. As 
is the history of Sufis in China.

You can see why any leftist/communist/socialist in the west would see both 
sides of the Islam/Uhygur debate in Xinjiang as rightist and reactionary, and 
would find it confusing as to which side to align with. Things are not as clear 
cut as say, the Isrealis and Palestinians, and denialism is the easiest route 
to take.
