As a "knee-jerk anti-American"  I can understand the view ,taken by some on the
left, that US policy regarding Xinjiang is all about protecting US dominance in
the world.

When has the US ever given a f**k about "human rights" anyway? Any such claims
have always had a hidden agenda.

I think this point was largely proven by Biden's response at his recent press
conference. Biden pretty much said as much, in words that just as easily could
have been said by Mike Pompeo. The article makes a valid point ,that increased
US belligerence against Beijing will not improve the everyday lives of Uhygur
people, but may only make the situation worse. See Iraq, Libya, Afghanistan,
etc. Which brings us to  another statement from Brophy's article that caught my
eye.

What if China's treatment of the Uhygurs was inspired by the US actions in
Islamic countries? This seems to be a point few want to discuss. It's called
blowback. Blowback is a complicated thing, and can spread in many directions.

Brophy does not address my point about the western left in regards to their
support for their support for both the Uhygurs and Palestininians. An internet
search with these terns, reveals much editorializing, and many scholarly
articles, trying to connect these two groups, with not word one in regards to
how the Uhygur people view the state of Israel.
