*** First, some comments seem to confuse the two demos, Washington DC on Jan. 13 and San Francisco on Jan. 14. I only reported eyewitness accounts for SF: 2000, versus PSL claiming tens of thousands. PSL also claimed 400,000 in DC, for which various comments have offered one or another piece of evidence.
*** Second, one comment sadly tries to explain the PSL's puffery with a tired slogan: "The PSL regularly distorts the actual numbers of participants - probably because of their influenced in 'Stalin School of Falsification'." PSL has never disavowed Sam Marcy's doctrine. That doctrine, for all its inventiveness about the global array of class forces, sticks to the Trotskyist theory of a bureaucratic bourgeoisie supposedly led by Stalin. The comment goes on, "their [PSL's] ultra-leftism is based on protests (placards and bus reservations) and not any long term working class based organizing in neighborhoods, labor unions, etc." PSL is most accommodating to the bulk of social democracy and liberalism – in having such speakers at its ANSWER rallies, for example.
