sorry to be a skunk at the picnic (a bad habit, I know) but what is the point?
Did Hamas behave according to the rules of war by making sure that only soldiers were shot and all civilians were not shot? Is Hamas an organization that respects human life, not like the murderous Israelis who bomb civilians? Did Hamas immediately arrange for Red Crescent visits to their "prisoners"? Is Hamas the "good guys"? Next snarky rhetorical question --- If Israelis systematically raped female prisoners in their jails would that make them MORE guilty of war crimes than they already are for murdering thousands of innocent civilians in GAZA as part of an ethnic cleansing campaign??? THis discussion may be a somewhat interesting sidelight about how wartime propaganda always exaggerates the mis-behavior of the enemy (the Kuwaiti babies taken out of incubators after Saddam's army took it over comes to mind ... .) but I am a bit surprised that so many people think this argument about whether or not Hamas attackers raped women is a worthwhile endeavor ---- Hamas is a terrorist organization that committed unspeakable acts --- attacks on civilians are the key element of the terrorist handbook ---- the shock value and the horror is the point --- Israel's military superiority permits it to rain terror from the skies to engage in wholesale killing of civilians --- exactly like the Germans did at Guernica, and London and Coventry -- and like the allies did in Dresden, Hiroshima and Nagasaki --- the mini-dispute about the bad press reporting on Israeli propaganda (and sometimes propaganda tells a "truth" -- it isn't always false) seems to me to be a waste of time and effort --- ESPECIALLY since the major effort has to be for an immediate cease fire to stop the killing and starvation of thousands of GAZA civilians ...
