I've been to several protests in Portland that were similar but not identical.
There is a tribal quality to the actions that respects the desires of
Palestinian and West Asian constituencies for leading the action; there are
Palestinian flags and sometimes Arabic chants, depending on the makeup of the
sponsors. Occasionally, I have heard chants calling out Zionism. The problem
is that most US Americans think that Zionism is a national park in the state of
Utah. Still, these marches drew upwards of several hundred people.
The movement seems to be slowly growing and gaining momentum here. I missed a
recent march that looked much larger than the ones I participated in, and which

Also, there is also work being done on divestment, resolutions and other
actions. Stanley Heller discusses that in a New Politics article,
